A 16-time Emmy Award winner, Roberts has held prominent roles with ESPN, ABC, NBC, and Golf Channel, covering everything from major championships to world events. Today, he serves as Co-Founder and COO of Big Swing Media, a premium media company focused on the business of lifestyle sports, including golf, tennis, and skiing.

Fred (Bucher) and I launched Big Swing Media because it was hard for us to get our arms around the reality that no one seemed to be covering the business side of golf at a premium level. Dream Foursome: Dwight Eisenhower, Arnold Palmer, my dad, and me. My dad served under Ike in WWII. He would have enjoyed Arnie’s company. I always did. Dream Interview: I wish I had a chance to know and talk to Ben Hogan. Seems like he was a fascinating man.
How did you get into journalism/ broadcasting/presenting?
I had hoped to play lacrosse in college, but wasn’t good enough to make the team at Maryland. I ended up broadcasting them on the radio and my freshman year the team played in the NCAA championship, but wasn’t broadcast on Wide World of Sports. I got a job as an assistant with the broadcast and it started my career in the industry. What is your most memorable career highlight or interview? I interviewed President George W. Bush at the White House. Helped to get a wrongly convicted man out of prison. What advice do you have for aspiring journalists/broadcasters? For aspiring journalists: be a good listener always. Advice for broadcasters: speak more slowly than you think you need to. What do you love most about golf? What I love most about golf are three things: it’s a game and I will always be a kid, it’s played in beautiful places, and it’s a
