Finca Cortesin returned to global golf prominence as host of the 2023 Solheim Cup, which is celebrated from signage, placards and other memories throughout the clubhouse and course. A good mix of risk-reward holes, Finca Cortesin eases you into the round with wide fairways on the first few holes, though precision is needed for approach shots around the greens. The first real test comes on the 333-yard 4th where long hitters can attempt to go for the green by cutting part of the lake as more conservative players can safely lay up in the fairway to the right. The signature 13th offers a wide fairway as bunkers and local Acebuches (wild olive
trees) flank the green for a picturesque approach, regardless of where your ball stops rolling. With views of the Estepona Mountains, inviting fairways, elevation changes aplenty and pleasant hospitality, Finca Cortesin is a must-play in Southern Spain, though it will cost a pretty penny as rates range from $370-445 depending on the season. Boasting more than 320 days of sunshine each year and average temperatures around 65 degrees, it’s no surprise the region is called Costa del Sol (Coast of the Sun), though as home to 70+ courses, it could be called Costa del Golf as well.
